In a sensational twist to the IPL spot-fixing scandal, the Supreme Court on Thursday proposed to the Board of Control for Cricket in India that Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals should not be allowed to participate in the seventh season of Indian Premier League.
The apex court also suggested that legendary Indian batsmen Sunil Gavaskar should be named BCCI president as current chief N Srinivasan has said that pending inquiry he shall step aside.

The Supreme Court, which on Tuesday wanted Srinivasan to step down as president to ensure a fair probe into the IPL betting and match-fixing scandal, will now pass an interim an order on Friday. The top court made no decision on Srinivasan, whose son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan of Chennai Super Kings has been indicted for betting and sharing team information.
The court also proposed that employees of India Cements, of which Srinivasan is managing director, and which owns CSK, not be part of the BCCI set-up.

Also, Harish Salve, one of the senior lawyers arguing the Justice Mudgal Committee report case before the Supreme Court claimed that India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni is guilty of corrupt conduct because he gave false statements to the Mudgal Committee about Gurunath Meiyappan's role with the Chennai Super Kings.
Earlier, BCCI in its proposal to Supreme Court assured it of initiating disciplinary proceedings on the basis of recommendations of Mudgal committee report. BCCI told the apex court that investigation be carried out on the basis of findings of Mudgal committee report. The court said it will have to think hard for the benefit of cricket and will have to pass order.
