PUNE: A 30-year-old mentally unstable woman was allegedly raped by a watchman and a ward boy in the lift of a civic hospital in Pune.
Police said the woman was admitted in Bhosari civic hospital, run by Pimpri-Chinchwad municipal corporation, on Friday for viral fever.
On Saturday evening, the woman got on to the hospital lift when watchman Pramod Manohar Mandekar, 28, and ward boy Shailesh Jadhav, 30, allegedly raped her.
The accused stopped the lift on the ground floor and raped her late in the evening when no one was around, said senior police inspector SD Kakane. The woman lives in a destitute home run by Chaitanya mahila mandal, he added.
The police arrested both the accused after the survivor lodged a complaint on Sunday. The duo has been sent to police custody till September 4.
