Cricket - Dhoni passes another milestone as India's most successful wicketkeeper

When he caught Ross Taylor in the first ODI in Napier, India captain MS Dhoni became the first Indian to complete 300 wicketkeeping dismissals. He is comfortably ahead of Nayan Mongia, who finished his career with 154.

Dhoni took his tally to 301 with a brilliant reflex catch from Brendon McCullum standing up to swing bowler Bhuvaneshwar Kumar. Six of those dismissals (three catches and stumpings each) came playing for Asia XI in three ODIs against Africa XI in 2007.

Dhoni's best performance with the gloves came against England in Leeds, September 2, 2007 when he effected a record-equalling six dismissals: five catches and a stumping. Incredibly, it was a day India dropped a few catches due to poor visibility and strong winds.

Dhoni is still a long way off from the record holder: Australia's Adam Gilchrist with 474. But there's also Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakkara gunning for that record.
